Dr Susana Banerjee MBBS MA MRCP PhD
Specialist Registrar in Medical Oncology
Dr. Susana Banerjee graduated with a 1st class degree from the University of Cambridge and completed her medical training at The Royal Free Medical School where she was a University of London Gold Medal Finalist in 2000. She joined the Specialist Registrar in Medical Oncology training programme at the Royal Marsden Hospital in 2004. Dr. Banerjee was awarded an Avon Breast Cancer Crusade Clinical Fellowship to join the Breakthrough Breast Cancer Research Centre. She gained a PhD from the Institute of Cancer Research, University of London in 2009.
Susana has delivered presentations on the international stage and was awarded the San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium Novartis Oncology Basic Science Award for her research in 2007. Other prizes include IMPAKT award, the McElwain Prize and the Sir Antony Driver Prize. Susana was also 'highly commended' for the Pfizer British Oncology Association Young Investigator Award. She attended the Flims Workshop, Methods in Clinical Cancer Research in 2010.
Dr. Banerjee is member of the European Young Oncologists Committee and several Royal Marsden Hospital committees including the National Cancer Survivorship Initiative Steering Group and she is the current Chair of the Junior Doctors Forum. She has a specialist interest in breast and gynaecological cancers. She aims to have a career in academic medical oncology and is keen to be involved in the design and implementation of clinical trials.
